Depression occurs mainly due to overthinking and negative thoughts in the mind. It also leads to a low morale and a low self-esteem in certain individuals.

There are certain things that should be done and certain things that should be avoided during the depression.

Here are somethings enlisted which should be avoided during the depression:

 

  1. AVOID THOUGHTS OF DEATH

Suicidal or death thoughts should be avoided during the depression. Research reads that majority of the suicidal deaths have occurred due to depression. But tackling the issues causing the depression can help in avoiding thoughts of death or committing a suicide.

 

  1. AVOID ISOLATION

Solitude or isolation triggers more depressive hormones in the mind. Hence, one should be in a company or social groups to eliminate solitude or depression. Sharing thoughts and feelings with friends or people clear the mind and relieves stress on the body.

 

  1. AVOID HOGGING FOOD

Hogging or eating huge amounts of food items which are unhealthy is a symptom of depression. These foods may be high in sugar and saturated fats and may lead to obesity or overweight issues. Hence, overeating should be avoided during the depression.

 

  1. AVOID NOT DOING EXERCISE

Exercise is important for the body to stay fit and active.  A Fit and active body has a fresh source of oxygen and blood supply and is less vulnerable to depression. Hence, exercises are essential to ward off negativity from the body and mind.

  1. AVOID NEGATIVE THINKING

It is necessary that one should think positively to avoid and ward off depression and negative thinking. Research reads that a negative mind is the most vulnerable for depression or an emotional breakdown or even a nervous breakdown.

A positive mind and body does not have any such symptoms and helps in keeping negativity away from the mind and body.

 

  1. AVOID OVERTHINKING

Just as negative thinking attracts depression and pessimism, overthinking does no good to the mind either.

Overthinking triggers anxiety and panic and leads to depression and brings the morale down.

 

  1. AVOID DEPENDENCY ON MATERIALISTIC HAPPINESS

Just as materialistic relationships are not long lasting, materialistic happiness are also short-lived. One cannot completely rely on materials for warding off depression or sadness or loneliness or solitude. Materials may only help in diverting one’s attention and giving only temporary satisfaction to the mind and the body. Hence, materials are not a very good option to rely upon.

 

  1. AVOID A REBOUND RELATIONSHIP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DEPRESSION

A rebound relationship in the middle of a depression phase is a complete no, as this does not involve two soulmates necessarily and may lead using each other only as an emotional support.

Such relations only act as a feel-good relation and may not last long.

 

  1. AVOID BLAMING THE MIND FOR THE DEPRESSIVE STATE OF MIND

It is better to realise the fact that a particular individual is responsible for its state of mind and no other person or thing is to be blamed for the depressive state of mind and body.

For the depressive state of mind, one is responsible for their own thoughts and deeds and not any other factor can be responsible for affecting the mind and the body for depression or a low self-esteem or morale.

 

  1. AVOID COMPLAINING ABOUT THINGS AND MATTERS

Complaining about things and matters has a very negative and toxic effect on the mind. One should not complain about any matter or thing and take accountability or charge of the situation to avoid depression or depressive thoughts in the mind. Complaining also gives temporary happiness and pleasure to the mind and body and does minor good in relieving stress and tension from the mind.

 

  1. AVOID DENIAL OF THE DEPRESSIVE SITUATION

Denying or denial of the depressive situation or depression shall provide only temporary relief to the mind. Accepting and taking charge of the situation shall give the courage and guts to move and come out of the situation. The denial shall not help in troubleshooting the situation.
